Ever had one of those projects that turned out exactly the way you wanted it to? This is mine. The Rustic Love Sign is my favorite Valentine’s Day decoration this year. It’s not your typical red/white/pink combo but that’s exactly why I love it. And it goes great with my Rustic Button Heart that I showed you yesterday.
I found the fabric along with this awesome rustic frame at Hobby Lobby. The letters came from Michaels. As for the paint, well…that was a combination of a few colors: 4 parts Apple Barrel Pinwheel Blue, 2 parts Americana Slate Green and 1 part Craft Smart Butter Cream. All of them were from Michaels. Here’s what I used:
Paint the letters. When they dry, sand the high spots and other random places on each letter.
Cut fabric to fit the back of the picture frame. Coat the backing with Mod Podge and apply fabric. Put the fabric in the frame.
Line up the letters and glue them to the fabric using a glue gun.
When the glue dries, it’s ready to hang!
Do you have a spot in your house that you change seasonally? I have this little wall between the kitchen and dining room that I like to change for every holiday. (If you remember, I hung my 3D Boo Wall Art here too.) With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I thought this Rustic Button Heart would be perfect for my seasonal wall.
I found the frame at Goodwill and painted and antiqued it using this technique before sanding it. The rest of the supplies came from Hobby Lobby and Michael’s. Here’s what you need:
Mod Podge (matte or satin)
1. Cut the burlap to fit the backing of the picture frame. Coat the backing of the picture frame with Mod Podge and attach the burlap.
2. Cut a heart shape out of felt and glue to the burlap using Tacky glue.
3. Attach red buttons of all shapes, shades and sizes to the heart using Tacky glue.
4. Once dry, sand edges, place in the frame and hang.
Tomorrow I’ll show you how to make the Rustic Love Sign!
