Last year, Wellness Mama posted a great homemade sunscreen recipe but since I didn’t have any zinc, all I could make was the cream base for the sunscreen. Turns out, the cream is amazing by itself so I’ve been making it ever since and using it as hand cream.
Now that Mother’s Day is coming up, I can’t wait to make some for my mom. She loves gardening so this will be perfect for her hands after she’s been digging in the dirt all day. You only need 4 ingredients to make this, all of which you can find at your local health food store or on Amazon. I chose a blend of lemon and orange oil for the fragrance but any essential oil will work great.
Combine almond oil, coconut oil, essential oils and beeswax pastilles in a glass jar. Place the jar in a saucepan filled with 2 inches of water and heat on medium.
As the ingredients start to melt, stir occasionally to incorporate.
Once the beeswax and oils are completely melted and blended, pour into the container you will use for storage. (I use old cold cream containers and half pint mason jars).
This cream may feel oily when first applied. That will go away after a few minutes when it is absorbed into the skin.
Add a tag and some raffia or ribbon and you’re homemade gift is ready!
