Fun Home Things is all about the stuff that makes home so special. Great food, family shenanigans, pretty and meaningful decor, cute holiday crafts that you’ll treasure for years, and tips and tricks to make life just a little less nuts.
We’re very real here. I shop at Walmart, I love my 30% off coupons from Kohl’s, and my kids get as excited about hand-me-downs as I do. My grandma’s house was my favorite destination spot and I live in a 3 bedroom 90s ranch and wouldn’t have it any other way, even after just welcoming our 4th baby.
If you want a great casserole recipe, I can hook you up. If you like fun seasonal crafts, DIY and decorating ideas, and tips to make your life easier, this blog is for you. If you want something Fancy. Posh. Glam. Swanky. Lavish. You’re going to be terribly disappointed. Fun Home Things is more like your favorite hoodie that is just too comfy to quit.
I created this blog 5 years ago as a creative outlet after getting remarried, becoming a stay-at-home mom to Sophie (who was 4 at the time), moving 4 hours away from my hometown of Louisville to the beautiful and friendly small town of Hickory, and then having a miscarriage just a few months after tying the knot.
That was a lot of change. Mostly great, amazing change, but a lot of change.
It didn’t take long for me (and my husband, bless his heart) to realize that I was in need of a creative outlet. So in July 2012, Fun Home Things was born! My first post was a Back to School wreath. I will never update the picture because it reminds me just how far this little blog has come. What I didn’t realize then was that, in just a few short years, and a lot of hard work later, Fun Home Things would be a full-time business, complete with its own office. Eek!
Life has changed a lot in the few years since I started this blog, for my personal life as well. I was blessed with 3 healthy babies. In 2013, Emmie was born followed by her little brother Jack in November 2014, and finally, Luke who was born in November 2016.`
Here is Sophie (9), Emmie (3), Jack (2), and new baby Luke. Aren’t they precious?
Last but most definitely not least, my husband Ryan. He is the most patient, smart, and kind man I have ever met and has been so supportive of every endeavor I’ve wanted to pursue. Basketball season gets pretty heated in our house–he’s a Cats fan, I’m a Cards fan, but we try to keep it civil. Our neighbors may tell you otherwise. But I love him anyway.
So sit back, check out the blog and let me know what you think! I would love to hear from you so please feel free to contact me at:
