We’ve all done it. Throw a load in the wash, forget about it for a couple of days, open the door and YUCK! Then you try to rewash it and it STILL smells sour. Fortunately, there’s a trick that helps to make the mildew smell go away much more quickly and easily than just rewashing.
That’s it. All you need to kick that nasty smell is a little bit of white distilled vinegar. If you have a front load washer, pour about 1/4 c.-1/2 c. fresh vinegar into the bleach reservoir and run like normal. If you have a top load washer, just pour the vinegar right in with the laundry and run like normal. (If it’s REALLY bad, you might have to treat it a second time.)
Don’t worry about the smell–your clothes will come out fresh and clean, not with a vinegar-y smell. Give it a try and let me know if it works for you!
