I had an office/craft room once. Then I had 2 babies in 14 months and that was pretty much the end of any personal space ever again. Now my craft room is a 3 ft. x 3 ft. craft closet and my office is my laptop at the dining room table with a paper pile next to it. We are adding on to the house in a few years, so I knew eventually I would have a workspace again, but not anytime soon.
Why it had never occurred to me to turn my craft closet into an office, I don’t know. I guess I just assumed it was too small. And it was a closet. But how brilliant is that? I don’t need much space to work–mainly I just need a place where I can focus and not have to stare at all of the housework I haven’t finished.
Here is the ‘before’ of my closet.
I told my husband and he was immediately on board. (I think he was more excited about getting my junk off the dining room table than the office. But whatever.) So I got started.
So far, I’ve taken everything out of the closet, filled holes, taped off the baseboards and prepped the walls.
And I bought a storage cube ottoman at TJ Maxx for $25–perfect for a seat.
And I bought paint. Benjamin Moore Palladian Blue. This picture doesn’t really do it justice. It’s more of a duck egg blue. Really pretty.
The nice thing about a small space is that it doesn’t take that long to change. My goal is to finish this up over the weekend and share the reveal next week.
