I love easy DIY projects, don’t you? I bought this lamp for $5 with the hopes that something great would come of it, but for as little as it cost me, I wasn’t worried if it all went wrong. Turns out, the lamp makeover went better than I expected! Here’s what I used:
Valspar Red Oxide Primer spray paint
Rustoleum Sunrise Red Gloss Protective Enamel spray paint
Rustoleum Metallic Oil-Rubbed Bronze spray paint
Here’s what it looked like before:
After taping off the light socket, I coated the lamp in Valspar Red Oxide Primer Spray Paint.
Once the primer dried, I painted the lamp with Rustoleum Gloss Protective Enamel spray paint in Sunrise Red. The trick to getting an even, glossy finish is a lot of thin layers. I think when it was all done, I covered the lamp with 5 layers.
I painted the base red at first, thinking it would blend right in with the lamp. I didn’t like it when it was done, so I covered it in Rustoleum Metallic Oil-Rubbed Bronze. When it dried, I added a lamp shade and my lamp was done!
I’m so happy with my “new” red lamp and it goes perfectly in my living room! For more DIY and upcycle ideas, check out the DIY page!
