I am loving the black, white and gold trend going on and am having so much fun incorporating it into my Valentine’s Day decorations. It’s a change from my usual rustic, burlapy decorations for Valentine’s Day. But this year, I’ve set out to try new things and this was really fun to make! Here’s what you need:
20 x 16 canvas
Mod Podge or Elmer’s glue
Black spray paint (Rust-Oleum Satin in Black)
Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape
Heart stencil (I found a felt one at Michael’s for $1.99)
Find the center using a tape measure or your ruler. Mark it, then outline the heart. Fill in where you outlined with tape. Use scissors to cut the tape to fit the curves.
Spray paint the entire canvas. (The tape bubbled up on me a little after I painted it but I only needed one coat. If you go with acrylic paint instead, you won’t have that issue.)
After the canvas dries completely, remove the tape.
Touch up any places where there was overspray with titanium white acrylic craft paint.
Coat the inside of the heart with mod podge or glue and pour the gold glitter on it. Shake off the excess.
Once the glue has dried, the canvas is ready to hang!
