My amazing friend Susan shared this recipe with our MOPS group a while back and let me tell you. After using a bunch of other cookie in a jar recipes, this one is my favorite. It’s easy to put together, bakes up well, and it tastes great, and makes a teacher or neighbor gift!
The original recipe is from Domino Sugar and their website has a bunch of recipes for mixes in a jar. So check them out! Anyway, to make Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar, here’s what you need:
Wide-mouth quart canning jar and lid
1 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
1 1/4 c. old-fashioned rolled oats
1 c. mini chocolate chips
Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt in a small bowl.
Spoon into canning jar. Layer remaining ingredients in order given, making sure to pack down each layer firmly. Clean inside of jar with a dry paper towel after each layer.
Secure lid tightly and decorate.
Attach these instructions to the jar:
In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine, 1 egg and 2 teaspoons vanilla until combined.
Slowly add contents of jar and mix well. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on greased cookie sheet. Using the back of a spoon, flatten cookies slightly.
Bake at 350°F for 12-14 minutes or until lightly browned.
Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
