My mother-in-law was the one who taught me how awesome it is to use seasoning envelopes in my pot roast. And after a year of playing with different seasoning combos, this pot roast recipe is my family’s favorite! It has so much flavor and the roast comes out nice and tender. We love it. And since two-envelope pot roast is easy to make, it’s a great recipe for anyone just learning how to use a Crock Pot. Here’s what you need:
2-3 lb rump roast
3 stalks of celery, cut into 1″ pieces
3 carrots, cut into 1″ pieces
3 potatoes, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 white onion, sliced
1 packet of onion soup
1 packet of Zesty Italian seasoning (Italian works too)
1 can beef broth
salt and pepper to taste
Prepare vegetables and place them in the bottom of the Crock Pot. Place roast on top of vegetables then top with both packets of seasoning.
Pour beef broth over the roast then cover and cook on low for 7-8 hours, until roast is tender. Pull apart with a fork.
That’s it! Your roast is ready to eat.
