I wish I could claim this brilliant project as my own, but the idea actually came from one of my favorite bloggers, Kelli, at Random Thoughts of a Supermom. I bookmarked this windsock project last year and I’m so glad I came across it last week–it’s the perfect 4th of July craft for Explore Summer! It’s simple to make and your kids are going to love displaying their windsock for everyone to see. Here’s what you need:
Tin cans, cleaned and dry
Krylon True Blue Gloss Spray Paint
Glitter star stickers
Red and white ribbon (I used 1 1/2″ wide ribbon)
Spray paint the tin cans.
When dry, decorate the cans with stars.
Attach the ribbon streamers with a glue gun.
Poke 2 holes in the top of the can with a screwdriver or drill and run string through it, tying the knot on the inside of the can. (In hindsight, this step should be done before attaching the ribbon streamers.)
Your windsock is ready to hang!
