Moms love anything homemade but that can be tough if you don’t have a lot of time. Fortunately, melt and pour soap makes creating a homemade gift easy.
Just like the name says, melt and pour soap comes in a block and all you have to do is melt the soap down, add the color, fragrance and additives you want, pour it in to soap molds, and let it cool. The result–a great homemade gift!
All of the supplies you need are available in the soap making section at craft stores like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. The only thing I bought separately was the essential oil. I got that at my local health food store.
32 oz. container of Melt and Pour soap base (I used olive oil soap)
10-15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
5-6 drops lilac soap colorant (optional)
1 tsp. whole lavender buds
1 tsp. ground lavender buds
Cut the soap base up into cubes.
To make 4 bars, put half of the soap base plus 2 cubes in a double boiler and heat over med-low until melted.
Add lilac colorant and lavender essential oil and stir well. (Color will be very subtle.)
Add whole and ground lavender buds and stir well.
Pour soap into molds. If bubbles form on the top, spritz with rubbing alcohol.
Let soap dry for 40 minutes, or until hardened. Remove from molds and your soap is ready!
