I hope everyone is having an AWESOME Valentine’s Day this year! Ours was a little different than it has been before. First because so much was going on today, we celebrated yesterday.
But the biggest change this year was our budget. We’ve been doing Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover since last summer and are KILLING it! We’ve already paid off a ton of debt and didn’t want to slow our momentum by going too big on Valentine’s Day.
So Ryan and I decided to spend a max of $25 on each other for Valentine’s Day. To make things interesting, there were a few rules: no candy, no stuffed animals and no flowers. We could have combined our funds to go out on a date, but we opted for gifts instead. Here’s what we came up with:
I made Ryan what he LOVES the most…one of his favorite meals, hot and ready for him when he walked in from work.
And Ryan bought me three seasons of my favorite show…Dallas. Yay!!!
We didn’t leave Sophie out! Sophie and I made Valentine’s Day treats and then we spent some quality family time together watching Princess and the Frog.
And you know what? Even though we didn’t do anything big, this was my favorite Valentine’s Day ever. We all got something we loved, we stayed within budget, and we spent some much needed quality time together in the process. What more could I ask for?
So how about you…how are you spending Valentine’s Day? Anyone else doing the Total Money Makeover?
