I have to say, 2012 has been such an amazing year for Fun Home Things and for me personally. In February, Ryan and I were married and I was able to quit my job and stay at home with my daughter. Talk about a blessing! We are so happy and have really enjoyed our first year of marriage.
In July, I started blogging, just as a creative outlet. I also wanted something to do since Sophie was about to start preschool. Five months and nearly 60,000 pageviews later, Fun Home Things has taken off and now I get to blog full time. How cool is that?
Anyway, here are my top ten posts! I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Thanks for making 2012 so special for me and I look forward to bringing you even more inspiration and DIY ideas in 2013.
Lavender Mint Foot Scrub was the first scrub I created and I haven’t changed a thing about it. It smells great, feels great, and very fun to give as a gift.
Never in a million years would I have imagined that a Canning Lid Pumpkin would be so popular but wow, was it ever. It’s just a simple, cute, inexpensive project that anyone can do and I’m so glad that so many people were inspired to make one too.
It’s amazing what a little spray paint and glitter can do. I took a few of my daughter’s tiny Dollar Store toys and turned them into ornaments. I also added a few to my Christmas tablescape.
This was my first year canning and my first batch ever and it turned out perfectly. I am officially addicted to canning now:) If you are interested in canning, give it a shot. A recipe like this is a great place to start.
I wanted a fun, colorful back-to-school wreath to kick off my daughter’s first year in school and this is what I came up with. I’m looking forward to it hanging on our door for years to come.
6. Apple Pie
Ahhh, apple pie, our fall tradition. This is my favorite pie to make (and eat) and I’m so glad that I got to share it with you this year!
This was the first time I had antiqued a picture frame and it was so easy that I had to share how to do it. I’m glad that my tutorial was so helpful to so many of you. It really is easy, isn’t it?
I’m not perfect and everything I make doesn’t turn out perfectly. One of the things I set out to do when I started blogging was to be truthful about what I make, even if it doesn’t turn out pretty. And I’m so glad I did. I received so many e-mails after posting this thanking me for being honest and real. I really appreciated that!
Santa Suit Gift Wrap is such a simple project but it adds a lot of fun to our Christmas morning. I started the tradition of wrapping Sophie’s Santa gifts like this last year and she loved it. Definitely something we will be doing for years to come.
Removing permanent marker from skin was my first Tip of the Week post. I discovered this little trick by accident and it has been a lifesaver. P.S. I use Mary Kay eye makeup remover.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my top 10 posts! I’m very excited about what’s to come in 2013 and I appreciate you for joining me. Have a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year!
